The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has announced the creation of a world-first Responsible Artificial Intelligence Network. The network will be led and will bring together industry, academia, and government to develop and promote ethical artificial intelligence (AI) practices.
The network will focus on developing moral AI practices that are transparent, accountable, and fair. It will also work to ensure that AI is used in ways that benefit society as a whole. It already has a large number of initial participants, including the Australian Information Industry Association, Standards Australia, the Tech Council of Australia, and much more.
The Responsible AI Network will be made up of a number of different groups, including an advisory board, an ethics committee, and a technical committee. These groups will work together to develop guidelines and best practices for the use of AI in industry. The advisory board will be made up of representatives from industry, academia, and government. It will provide strategic guidance to the network and help to ensure that it is meeting its goals. The ethics committee will be responsible for developing ethical guidelines for the use of AI. It will work to ensure that AI is used in ways that are transparent, accountable, and fair. The technical committee will be responsible for developing technical guidelines for the use of AI. It will work to ensure that AI is used in ways that are safe and reliable.
The Responsible AI Network is an important step forward in ensuring that AI is used in ways that benefit society as a whole. More importantly, it will provide “practical guidance and coaching from experts on law, standards, principles, governance, leadership and technology to ensure explainability, fairness and accountability are built into Australian AI systems”.
